We believe the concept of sustainability should evolve into a comprehensive model including fulfilled living by inherently incorporating emotional sustainability components like personal growth, collaboration and contribution, meaningful relationships, and recreation. We also believe that these key components of life are easier to attain when combined with eco-sustainable “physical sustainability” solutions. Putting these concepts together is something we see as having the potential to motivate the mainstream public to consider sustainability in a new way. This re-defining of the concept of sustainability is foundational to our initial teacher/demonstration model and the self-sufficient teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities we will help create all over the world.
We believe there are foundational components to evolving the concept of sustainability: a common collaborative purpose (in our case Global Change), a culture of individual and group growth, group dining and other daily group activities that bring people together, lifetime education programs, consensus decision making, resource based economy implementation, and a rich holistic recreation model. To make all this possible, these things are built directly into the open source village model we are creating and sharing.

Personal growth, meaningful relationships and activities that build meaningful relationships, common purpose, sharing, and contribution are foundations we consider essential to both evolving the concept of sustainability and the success of our long-term international sustainable development strategy. By incorporating these foundations with eco-sustainable “physical sustainability” solutions we see ourselves creating a more comprehensive and mainstream-attractive open source village model to share.
